Bobbi Kristina Brown will get the biopic treatment October 8th, a little over a year after Whitney Houston’s only child died from a combination of drowning and drug intoxication at the age of 22. The TV movie, simply titled Bobbi Kristina, will air on TV One October 8th, and will star (“Stuck in the Middle”) actress Joy Rovaris as Bobbie Kristina, Nadji Jeter as her boyfriend, Nick Gordon, (“Tyler Perry’s House of Payne“) actress Demetria McKinney portrays Whitney Houston, Vivica A. Fox as her aunt Pat Houston and Hassan Johnson (“The Wire”) as Bobby Brown.
The trailer below shows Brown (Joy Rovaris) struggling with her family and her music career. “Everything is always about Whitney, I can never sing as well as you, I can never be the superstar you are,” she yells at one point. “You are the most beautiful thing I’ve ever made,” her mom (Demetria McKinney) screams in response.
Houston died on February 11, 2012, and a month later, Brown went on OWN’s Oprah’s Next Chapter to talk about her mother. “I can hear her voice and spirit talking to me, and telling me, ‘Keep moving, baby,” she said at the time. “I’m right here, I gotcha.”
At another point in the clip, Rovaris-as-Brown has a heated argument with Jeter’s Nick Gordon, hinting at the relationship troubles that would later lead to Gordon being found responsible for her death in 2016. (He was ordered by a Georgia judge to pay $36 million to Brown’s estate.)
No criminal charges in Brown death have been brought against him, however. In June he was arrested in Florida on domestic battery and false imprisonment charges after his live-in girlfriend told Sanford Police he had hit her.
Bobbi Kristina will air October 8th at 7/6 C. on TV One.
